What is winterization in edible oil, and does your groundnut oil undergo winterization?

Why can pure groundnut oil sometimes look cloudy or have sediment? Reading What is winterization in edible oil, and does your groundnut oil undergo winterization? 1 minute Next What is degumming, and why is your groundnut oil not degummed?

Winterization is a refining process in which oil is cooled under controlled conditions to encourage higher-melting components, such as certain waxes, to crystallize. These solidified components are then separated through filtration. The primary purpose is to improve the oil's clarity and stability at lower temperatures and give it a consistently clear appearance.

Our cold-pressed groundnut oil is not winterized. We don't deliberately chill and filter the oil simply to make it clear. Since our oil is unrefined and minimally processed, its clarity, colour and appearance may naturally change with temperature and storage conditions. We prefer to retain this natural character rather than subject the oil to additional processing purely for cosmetic clarity.
