According to Ayurveda, food should be chosen based on your body’s state and digestive capacity.
White Indrayani rice is most suitable when:
-
Digestive fire (agni) is weak
-
The body is recovering from illness, fever, diarrhoea, or food poisoning
-
Light, non-irritating food is required
-
The stomach cannot tolerate fibre
-
Quick nourishment is needed without a digestive burden
-
Short-term comfort or recovery diets – e.g., khichdi or simple meals
By removing the bran layer, white rice becomes highly digestible and non-abrasive. This allows the digestive system to conserve energy, rest, and recover— making it ideal for short-term comfort and recovery use.
Usage
- Serve as a light, comforting side dish with dal, satvic curries, or lightly spiced sabzis.
- Prepare pej (rice water/kanji) as a gentle, nourishing drink during fasting, weakness, or digestive rest.
- Make soothing white rice khichdi for recovery, low appetite, or light meals.
- Enjoy traditional varan-bhaat style meals with the plain dal
- Use for children’s meals and elder nourishment, owing to its soft texture and easy digestibility.
- Prepare kheer with milk and jaggery, lightly flavoured with elaichi or saffron, for simple satvic desserts.
- Soak and grind to make naturally fermented idli, dosa, and cheela batter with gentle sourness and softness.
- Use in fasting, or ritual preparations that value purity, simplicity, and lightness.
Usage Instructions
- Rinse rice thoroughly 2–3 times
- Optional soaking: 30–60 minutes for extra softness
- Cook 1 cup of rice with 2.5 cups of water
- If making khichdi or a softer dish, feel free to add more water according to your preference
