FAQs
The whiteness on jaggery cubes is a natural occurrence and is typically a result of sugar crystallization. When jaggery is exposed to air or stored for some time, the natural sugars in the jaggery can crystallize on the surface, forming a light, white film. This is completely harmless and does not affect the quality, taste, or nutritional value of the jaggery. If the taste and smell of cubes are perfectly fine, you can enjoy them as you normally would without any second thoughts.
The jaggery’s color ranges from golden to deep brown, which is perfectly natural and doesn’t affect the taste or quality. The color variation is a sign of the authentic, traditional preparation and can vary with some batches depending on the seasonal changes & sugarcane variety, harvesting time, and molasses content & and storage conditions.
No, it's a sign of freshness. The chewiness is prominent in a new, fresh batch of jaggery cubes, where the jaggery retains more moisture, making the texture soft. However, as the cubes age and lose moisture over time, they can become harder and less chewy. This is a natural process and is a sign of the freshness of the batch.
