What does “traditionally saponified” mean in a liquid hand wash?

Saponification is the traditional process of making soap from plant oils. Simply put, Cold-Pressed Coconut, Olive and Sunflower Oils are combined with an alkali, which starts a natural chemical reaction that transforms the oils into soap and naturally occurring glycerin. The important part is that the alkali is used up during this reaction. It does not remain as free alkali in the finished product. Instead of adding ready-made synthetic cleansing agents, we make the cleansing soap from plant oils through this traditional soap-making process.
